On December 17, 2024, Lawyer Wu Ge, Director of Beijing BZW Law Firm, Lawyer Yang Kai, Secretary of the Party Committee, Lawyer Xu Hongliang, Lawyer Zhang Tianbao, Lawyer Zhang Yaojun, Lawyer Liu Shaokun, Lawyer Zhao Xia, and Lawyer Ma Haitao were invited to visit the Malaysian Bar and the Asian International Arbitration Center (AIAC).

The Malaysian International Mediation Centre (MIMC), formerly known as the Malaysian Mediation Centre (MMC), is a mediation institution established in 1999 under the auspices of the Malaysian Bar Association. It is committed to promoting mediation as an alternative dispute resolution procedure and providing appropriate related services for the successful resolution of disputes.

Under the guidance of representatives from the Malaysian Bar Association, The delegation of BZW took the lead in visiting the Malaysia International Mediation Centre (MIMC) and celebrated its 25th anniversary together.

At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Director Yang Kai thanked the Malaysian Bar Association for the invitation and welcome. Both sides exchanged cordial greetings and introduced the attendees. Richard Teh Tai Sheng, member of the International Professional Qualification Admission Committee of the Malaysian Bar Association, Jeff Leong Pak Lim, member of the International Affairs Committee, Olivia Ow Hui Ching, member of the International Practice Affairs Committee, Hurriyyah Kamaruzzaman, member of the International Affairs Committee, and Roobalavaniah Rengasamy, High Commissioner for International Affairs, attended the meeting.

Richard Teh Tai Sheng, a member of the International Professional Qualification Admission Committee of the Malaysian Bar Association, provided a comprehensive overview of the association’s development history, scale composition, and mission philosophy. “No Fear, No Favour”, The Malaysian Bar Association adheres to the principle of “fearlessness, impartiality, upholding judicial fairness and justice without considering its own or its members’ interests”, and continuously promotes the progress of the Malaysian legal industry.

Director Wu Ge once again sincerely thanked the Malaysian Bar Association for the invitation during the speech, and then introduced the cultural concept, domestic internationalization layout and other basic information of BZW Law Firm. Director Wu Ge stated that the core philosophy of BZW Law Firm, which is based on the principles of “being impartial and knowledgeable”, is highly compatible with the principles upheld by the Malaysian Bar Association. In the subsequent communication, both parties conducted in-depth discussions on the relevant policies, application processes, and areas of practice for establishing foreign law firms in Malaysia. Both sides are expected to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation based on their common value pursuit, and jointly explore broader development space.

The Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) was established in 1978, formerly known as the Kuala Lumpur Regional Arbitration Centre. It was the first arbitration center in Asia established by the Asian African Legal Consultative Organization and the first institution in the world to adopt the revised Arbitration Rules of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law in 2013.

Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan, CEO of the Asian International Arbitration Center, warmly welcomed BZW with his team. Vice Director Yang Kai expressed gratitude for the sincere invitation from the Asian International Arbitration Center, and then both parties introduced the attendees.

The representative of the Asian International Arbitration Center gave a detailed introduction on the development history, latest arbitration rules, recent case acceptance situation, and international cooperation of AIAC, and showcased AIAC’s products and services.

Director Wu Ge once again thanked the Asian International Arbitration Center for its warm invitation and reception, and introduced the growth process, professional service scope, and future international development blueprint of BZW Law Firm. Director Wu Ge pointed out that currently, Chinese enterprises are accelerating their pace of going global, and international commercial dispute business is growing accordingly. BZW Law Firm will also rely on professional and international dispute resolution services to fully protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises overseas.
