Amidst the continuous surges of the global economy and the profound restructuring of supply chains, Chinese enterprises are facing a strategic window of opportunity to expand overseas. To help enterprises seize opportunities and address challenges, BZW Law Firm and A&T International Law Firm Co., Ltd. (Thailand) jointly held the “Seminar on Compliant Overseas Expansion of Chinese Enterprises” in Bangkok, Thailand, on the morning of December 18, 2025, and formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement to jointly safeguard Chinese-funded enterprises investing and developing in Thailand.
Focusing on the theme of “Compliant Overseas Expansion,” the seminar delved into core topics such as Thailand’s investment policies, legal environment, compliance pathways, and localized operations. It attracted representatives from the legal, business, and academic sectors of both China and Thailand. The event was conducted in a “hybrid” format (both offline and online), providing a platform for in-depth exchanges and dynamic intellectual engagement.
The seminar was held at the offices of A&T International Law Firm Co., Ltd. in Thailand. Mr. Huang Guoping, Executive Director of A&T International Law Firm, expressed his warm welcome to Mr. Wu Ge, Director of BZW Law Firm, and the delegation of ten lawyers. He stated it was an honor to establish strategic cooperation with BZW Law Firm, facilitated by the bridging efforts of Lawyer Wang Xia. He emphasized that Thailand, as a key hub in Southeast Asia, is becoming a crucial node for Chinese enterprises’ overseas layout. Compliance operation, he stressed, is the cornerstone for enterprises to establish themselves in Thailand, and his firm will leverage local expertise to provide precise legal support for Chinese enterprises.
In his address, Lawyer Wu Ge, Director of BZW Law Firm, pointed out that overseas expansion has evolved from capital export to a systematic project encompassing multiple dimensions such as compliance management, cultural integration, and risk prevention and control. BZW Law Firm is willing to collaborate closely with its Thai partner to provide cross-border, one-stop legal services for enterprises, helping them navigate a steady and far-reaching path.
Mr. Liu Chao, President of the Thailand Henan General Chamber of Commerce, and Professor PORNCHAI WISUTTISAK, Assistant to the President of Chiang Mai University, also delivered speeches, affirming the value of China-Thailand cooperation from commercial and academic perspectives respectively, and expressed hopes for joint efforts to create a better development environment for enterprises.
Expert Insights: Addressing Overseas Expansion Challenges
During the keynote speech session, Professor Li Qun, Doctor of Law from Thammasat University, systematically analyzed multi-dimensional risks including policy, legal, and operational challenges faced by Chinese enterprises investing in Thailand, offering practical suggestions in his presentation titled Risks and Coping Strategies for Chinese Enterprises Investing in Thailand. Mr. YOT, Lawyer Representative from A&T International Law Firm, interpreted Relevant Laws and Regulations on Corporate Compliance in Thailand, outlining key provisions and practical points.
Lawyer Wang Xia, Partner at BZW Law Firm, shared insights on Compliance Structure Design and Risk Prevention for Chinese Enterprises Expanding to Thailand. She proposed structural solutions covering equity design, tax planning, labor compliance, and highlighted risk prevention pathways with case studies. The presentations were closely aligned with enterprise needs, focusing on practical difficulties.
Strategic Signing: Building a Long-term Collaborative Mechanism
BZW Law Firm and A&T International Law Firm formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement. Taking this collaboration as a starting point, both parties will integrate resources and professional expertise to deepen cooperation in areas such as Chinese investment in Thailand, dispute resolution, and cross-border compliance, providing enterprises with comprehensive, localized, and high-value-added legal services.
Notably, to solidify the cooperation and respond swiftly to client needs, A&T International Law Firm has appointed Lawyer Wang Xia, Partner at BZW Law Firm, as its International Legal Advisor. This appointment signifies that the cooperation extends beyond institutional synergy to the sharing and embedding of core talent, aiming to provide clients with integrated services combining Chinese investment perspectives and Thai local practical experience. In the future, leveraging this mechanism, both parties will integrate legal resources and networks from China and Thailand to offer Chinese enterprises full-cycle, integrated services—from front-end market entry consulting and mid-end compliant operations to back-end dispute resolution—truly addressing the pain points of “difficulty finding, distrusting, and poorly utilizing” local services in cross-border operations.
Roundtable Dialogue: Exploring Localized Development Pathways
Following the signing ceremony, the event proceeded to a roundtable dialogue. Lawyers, enterprise representatives, and scholars from China and Thailand discussed Common Challenges and Responses for Chinese Enterprises Establishing in Thailand, covering practical issues such as cross-border management, cultural integration, and dispute resolution. Frequent interactions and spirited dialogue provided participants with diverse solutions and thought-provoking insights.
In subsequent exchanges, the heads of both law firms further elaborated on the direction and expectations of this strategic cooperation. Mr. Huang Guoping, Executive Director of A&T International Law Firm, stated: “The essence of cooperation lies in creating value where ‘one plus one is greater than two.’ With decades of roots in Thailand, A&T possesses deep understanding of the local business culture and legal practices. Through this close connection with BZW Law Firm, we look forward to not only precisely aligning Thailand’s ‘on-the-ground wisdom’ with the specific needs of Chinese enterprises but also jointly building an efficient and reliable service network. This will help Chinese enterprises bridge information and trust gaps, truly enabling them to ‘understand the rules, integrate into the ecosystem, and develop steadily’ in the Thai market.” Lawyer Wu Ge, Director of BZW Law Firm, expressed full agreement and raised higher expectations for the cooperation: “Amid the grand narrative of supply chain restructuring, the value of legal services must be shifted forward and embedded deeper. Our cooperation with A&T aims not only to be clients’ ‘legal translator’ in Thailand but also to become their ‘strategic partner.’ This requires our collaborative mechanism to be institutionalized, forward-looking, and capable of solving complex problems. We hope to integrate insights and resources from both sides, upgrading from single-project support to long-term companionship in building enterprises’ global compliance systems, providing Chinese enterprises expanding overseas with comprehensive solutions possessing strategic depth and operational resilience.”
This seminar not only provided a platform for enterprises already in or planning to invest in Thailand to address issues directly but also marked a new stage in China-Thailand legal service cooperation. In the future, both law firms will continue to join hands, using professional expertise to escort enterprises in their compliant overseas expansion and to help ensure Chinese enterprises navigate global tides with steady progress.
