On the morning of August 18, 2025, Christopher Williams, Founding Partner of Howse Williams; Christopher Yu (Yu Guojian), Partner; and Yu Jia, Director of the Division of Membership Management & Development at the Belt and Road International Legal Services Association (BRILSA), visited BZW Law Firm for an exchange. They were warmly received by Bai Xiao, Chairman of BZW’s Executive Committee; Yang Fan, Member of the Executive Committee; Si Wei, Director of the Belt and Road National Professional Committee; Liu Jinyi, Director of the Finance National Professional Committee; Zhao Xia, Member of the Marriage, Family, and Family Enterprise Succession National Professional Committee; and legal assistant Huo Jiaorong, among others.

The attending leaders and lawyer representatives of BZW Law Firm extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Howse Williams and the BRILSA. They accompanied the guests on a tour of BZW Law Firm, providing a detailed introduction to its development history, culture, and current achievements.

Chairman Bai Xiao first elaborated on BZW’s scale of development, extensive practice areas, and international presence. Ms. Bai emphasized that as a full-service law firm, BZW has established 28 branches globally. Currently, the firm is accelerating the expansion of its global business through the focused development of its “BZW GLOBAL” platform, which has already built a cooperative network across multiple countries and regions. With the deepening of its internationalization process, BZW is committed to providing more comprehensive and efficient legal support to Chinese enterprises venturing overseas, helping them navigate the complex and ever-changing international legal environment.

Christopher Williams and Christopher Yu introduced the development history and service areas of Howse Williams. They stated that as a leading full-service law firm in Hong Kong, while deeply cultivating the Hong Kong market, Howse Williams has also established solid cooperative relationships with outstanding law firms and lawyers in Europe, Southeast Asia, and other regions. They expressed their anticipation for further collaboration with BZW to build an efficient cross-border service ecosystem, explore long-term and in-depth cooperation models, provide full-cycle legal support for Chinese enterprises “Going Global,” and achieve sustained mutual value creation.

Subsequently, lawyers Yang Fan, Liu Jinyi, Si Wei, and Zhao Xia introduced the development of their respective National Professional Committees and the specific legal needs of Chinese clients “Going Global.” Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on practice areas including corporate and commercial law, investment, financing and M&A, virtual tokens and asset investments, family trusts, and international arbitration. They also explored potential future modes of cooperation.

Yu Jia, Director of Division of Membership Management & Developemt of BRILSA, introduced the development status of BRILSA. She pointed out that legal services are crucial for ensuring the steady and long-term advancement of the Belt and Road Initiative. In the future, the association will continue to integrate global high-quality legal resources, promote cooperation among its members, and empower Belt and Road cooperation with more precise and efficient legal services.
