On October 17, 2024, partners and lawyers from the Beijing headquarters, as well as the Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guiyang offices of BZW, engaged in a constructive online exchange with Lupicinio International Law Firm, a renowned Spanish firm specializing in foreign legal affairs. The meeting aimed to explore the latest trends in international commercial arbitration, share experiences from China and Spain in cross-border dispute resolution, and marked the beginning of a long-term series of exchange and discussion activities between BZW and Lupicinio Law Firm.
Bai Qiao, Executive Committee Member of the Beijing Headquarters, introduced China’s achievements and the latest developments in the field of international commercial dispute resolution.
Lupicinio Law Firm’s Lupicinio Rodriguez and Professor Marco de Benito focused on the current state of Spain’s international commercial arbitration system, elaborating on the advantages and challenges of the country’s arbitration platforms. Lupicinio also introduced the Madrid International Arbitration Center, established through the integration of resources from several key arbitration institutions in Spain, with the goal of enhancing Spain’s influence and competitiveness in the field of international arbitration. Professor Marco further compared Spain’s arbitration environment with those of Hong Kong and Singapore, highlighting that Spain is working towards creating favorable conditions to become a stable choice for international arbitration, but still faces a gap compared to arbitration hubs like Hong Kong and Singapore, which are already internationally leading.
During the exchange, both parties primarily discussed the essential qualities of a truly international arbitration platform, including neutrality, fairness, and efficiency.
As the process of internationalization accelerates, BZW continues to strengthen its global legal service capabilities, maintaining friendly cooperation and exchanges with various overseas legal institutions and professionals. The establishment of Zhongwen’s Foreign Legal Affairs Professional Committee further enhances the professional development of the firm’s foreign legal services team, integrating and consolidating the talent from offices across different regions. This greatly improves the service level of foreign-related business, enabling the firm to meet the growing market demand and challenges.
The participants from BZW at this meeting included Bai Qiao (specializing in foreign-related dispute resolution and commercial projects) from the Beijing headquarters, Qiao Huanran (arbitrator and international arbitration expert), Du Xiujun (specializing in foreign-related intellectual property projects), Wang Dong (specializing in foreign-related commercial projects), Liu Li (Director of the Shanghai office, expert in finance and cross-border mergers and acquisitions), Ye Yingying (specializing in foreign-related family matters), Yan Lingyu (specializing in foreign-related commercial projects) from the Shanghai office, Cen Daoqi (specializing in foreign-related commercial projects) from the Shenzhen office, and Dai Qin (cross-border liquidation expert) from the Guiyang office.
